Art Deco Silver Four Pieces Tea Service

A rare and highly distinctive Art Deco sterling silver four-piece tea service by Adie Brothers, Birmingham, 1935, presented on its original fitted Bakelite tray. A superb example of British Art Deco design, this elegant four-piece silver service was manufactured by the renowned Birmingham firm Adie Brothers Ltd and hallmarked in Birmingham in 1935. The set is presented in a beautifully proportioned fitted Bakelite tray, creating a unified and exceptionally stylish presentation. The service comprises two matching lidded silver pots, a sugar basin and a cream/milk jug, each displaying the strong geometric forms characteristic of the Art Deco period. The pieces are formed with crisp, stepped architectural profiles and highly polished surfaces, beautifully contrasted by the rich dark brown Bakelite handles and finials. The fitted tray is an integral and particularly desirable feature of the set, with its deep chocolate-brown Bakelite construction complementing the silver beautifully. The result is a sophisticated combination of silver, Bakelite and geometric design, perfectly reflecting the modernist aesthetic of the 1930s.
