Lid is sturdy when attached to the end of the brush and doesn't wobble when applying lipstick - also fine when placed on the brush as long as you place the brush in properly and don't catch the bristles. Have had mine for roughly 3-4 years and has been fine. Washed fine, bristles didn't spray out. Fantastic very portable brush with protective lid that can be used to extend the handle. I have huge lips but this brush applies product smoothly without leaving lines. Fabulous design. Love it!! When I first bought this brush it was very good, then I decided to put the lid on- this completly ruined the bristles of the brush, now lots of the bristles fan out and you can no longer do a straight line with it. Fine if you're using a nude shade, but really awlful if you're using a dark colour. Would recommend to buy the other MAC lip brush as i'm very annoyed that I got this one...waste of money...if you use the lid anyway. I have just purchased both lip brushes as Mac brushes are excellent quality and last for ages. I had to chuckle at the first review with the sticking out bristles. DON'T people realise that cosmetic brushes should be washed at least once every month for hygiene and to keep the bristles perfect.
